Recovering from the worst cold ever...

On Saturday, I started coming down with a cold. At least, at the time I assumed I was going to be a minor 24-hour bug. I hadn't been sick in a while so I just went about my day and did some wedding things with my friend.

By that night, I knew I was in for a bad few days. My ears were completely plugged and I had trouble hearing. I had started to get some body aches but not much else.

Sunday morning after a night of sleeping with some interruptions I had a terrible pain in my neck and the beginning of a dry, unproductive cough. Ok, I can deal with this. No bid deal.

Monday morning arrived and I was completely exhausted. I didn't get any sleep that morning because I was tossing and turning throughout the night with a barking cough. A few times I had to get up and cough, startling Ripley enough to have her jump off the bed and stare at me. As I got out of bed, I felt an immense pressure in my head accompanied with a headache. Great, that's exactly what I needed.

Throughout the day the cough got worse, the headache was pounding, and I seemingly had nothing to eat. Well, no, that's not correct. There was nothing in my house that I actually wanted to eat, just a bunch of stuff that I didn't want to eat. You know how you're super picky about your food choices when you're sick, don't judge!

Towards 4pm, I decided enough was enough. I sent Ripley to her crate, went to Publix and picked up a bunch of food and meds. By that night, my fever was coming on full blast. Finally, all I had to do was wait it out. After a fever is gone, the cold quickly follows.

Today I felt just about the same if not a little better. The head pressure let up and the headache was greatly reduced. Around 3:30 the fever had broken along with all the tell-tale signs of a fever breaking. What an ordeal.

I'm guessing this was just a bad cold, even though it felt like the flu.

Through these few days, the only real productive thing I was able to do was do two loads of laundry (which is still lying on my dining room table and chairs), watch the final two episodes of X-Files that I've never seen before and make matzo ball soup. Seriously, the matzo ball soup was the only good thing that happened since Sunday. Even Ripley likes it; I mixed some in with her regular food!

And that was the 3 most uncomfortable days I've spent in a long, long time.
