Cloverfield

Last night I went with a few people from work to go see JJ Abrams' latest creation Cloverfield. I enjoyed it quite a bit and aside from the fact that it had a b-movie budget, the effects and action that took place were extremely believable.

The technique alone in combining CGI effects with what looks like a single handheld camera certainly made the movie all by itself. Top it off with mostly unknown actors, and you eliminate the feeling that "it's completely made up."

If you leave out the monster for a moment, what you see in Cloverfield is really quite frightening: panic, ruins and fear.

Here I am hoping for a sequel...
